About Me

Most of you probably "know" me from the TV show, The Bachelor. Unfortunately I can't keep Mondays from coming so I have to just embrace it and laugh at myself. If any of you care or are curious about my "story," here it is:

I grew up in a wealthy Christian family of 5 in a big home on the river. My sibling are 8 and 10 years older than me... I was the accident my mom always wanted. I think I should also mention that my parents were 20 years apart in age. I had the sweetest mother you could ever dream of having, everything about her amazed me. She stayed at home with us and she had a studio built onto our house where she could work as an Artist - an oil painter. My father, who scared me half to death most of the time, was the bread winner and worked 80 hours a week! He looked exactly like Clint Eastwood and was very intimidating to everybody that met him. The look in his piercing blue eyes was always so intense and SMART. You could never win with him! I always wanted to do my very best to make him proud because it was such a good feeling. When I was about 15 years old I found out that my dad had a disease called Emphysema. It's a lung disease, he had been a heavy smoker when he was younger and that was the cause of his condition.

When I was 19 I moved out and just a few months later I got pregnant. At this point my fathers health was doing really bad, he was on oxygen almost 24/7 and starting to loose his memory. Making it more difficult to tell my parents because I didn't want to add to the heat of things. I decided to tell my mom first when I was already about 17 weeks along. I couldn't speak because I was crying so hard so I handed her a picture of the ultrasound. She was as usual so kind and loving and literally put me on her lap and rocked me! She said, "babies are a blessing, this is an amazing gift you are being blessed with." I felt halfway relived, I just needed (her) to tell my dad now. I went back to my house that night and in the morning I had a voicemail from my dad. Oh my gosh did my heart sink. I listened to it and he said, "your mom told me about your baby and I am so proud of you for deciding to keep it. Now come over and let me give you this big hug I've been saving up for you." Crying with so much love in my heart, I headed over to my parents. They offered to let me come live back home and help me take care of this baby.

On June 12th, 2013, I gave birth to my perfect son, Kale.  However, my dad at this point only had 30 percent of a lung and was on oxygen 24/7. I consistently helped care for him and it was heart wrenching, but it felt so good to be there for him. Soon he started losing his memory, he wouldn’t remember a whole day sometimes and that was scary. There were times he became violent and had no idea what was happening.  Even though he could never remember Kale's name, he still loved him more than words can describe Kale loved him back. The look when they saw each other would light up a room and make anyone feel good. I got to see a whole new side of my dad through my sweet baby. On March 18th, 2014 my father passed away in the hospital holding my hand. I like to believe that I walked him into heaven :)

My mom moved to Alaska shortly after my fathers death because that is where her family resides and I think she just felt lost without him. Kale is my everything and I want to show him off! We still live in my home town and I work in a Dental Office a few days a week. And I am going to school to become a Dental Sales Representative.  Through this blog I would like to talk about life as young mama and hopefully give some helpful tips! As well as some fashion and crafts :)
